why is my s video cable not displaying color on the tv?
I’ve had an s video cable for over a year now and it’s always displayed color when hooked up to any of my tv’s. All of a sudden it’s not showing color, everything is working fine but now its all in black and white.
It could be that one of the pins is bent or not making contact. These bend often. Pull off the cable at each end and look at the pins. If one is bent you can try to straighten with needle nose pliers.
Also, your TV may need to be switched to s-video in the setup menu if the input shares both composite (yellow) and s-video. This can change during a power outage or surge.
Last, try a different component (like a DVD player). If you have color, it’s the original component. If still black and white, then try a different s-video cable.
